| Tonight's episode was interesting as always..but did anybody get this feeling that they were stealing ideas from Vanilla Sky and Fight Club? Either way, the ending was good and the main story keeps generating more anticipation. Who thinks the Asians on the island are so much cooler than Jack and Sawyer? Come on, Jin used to be a bad-ass hitman and Said was a Iraqi Republican Guard!!!! Why is Jack the doctor and Sawyer the con man taking this place over...huhhhh?? Actually I like all the characters on the island..all the way down to Walt and his annoying dad, Michael. I wonder if they get pissed every week when they find out they aren't in the script yet!? haha. Everyone is cool...please don't kill anymore people off!! | | |
| I recorded LOST on Wednesday and just finished watching it. This was the 2nd flashback about the Korean couple (Sun and Jin), so I was very interested in seeing it. The show had me guessing what was going to happen next and fooled me right up to the end, apparently Jin shoots blanks but Sun is pregnant. They were happy and for some reason I had this really great feeling about it all....i mean maybe it was the show's use of actual Koreans in their very accurate protrayal of Korean life or maybe it was because it's Friday and I'm so glad that I'm home....or maybe its their sooo accurate portrayal of island life in the aftermath of a plane crash with supernatural OVERTONES...maybe it's none of the above..who knows!
Oh yeah, back to my show....so LOST was awesome, one of the best shows thus far this season.
| Alright, what's up with scratchy voices and the women of American Idol. A lot of them were pretty bad, I was surprised. I haven't voted yet because i don't know who to vote for, but the one that went last is probably the favorite...and her quirkiness might be a plus. The judges were saying how she has a natural talent, but her mom is a voice teacher....how natural is that???
I was actually a little excited during the Winter Olympics, NBC has hyped up the feud between Shani Davis (1000M Gold Medalist) and Chad Hedrick (5000M Gold Medalist, i think). Neither of them won the 1500M, Shani ended with Silver and Chad with Bronze. The Gold went to Italy's Enrico Fabris, and well deserved. The feud between these US skaters is not good for the image of America in the Olympics..but it makes for good TV! During the press conference afterwards, they still exchanged words just when I thought it was all over. Davis said he thought it would have been nice for Chad to shake his hand after he won the Gold during the 1000, just like Davis did for Chad during the 5000. Then Chad gets up and he looks like he's going to go over to shake Davis' hand, but then just sits back down. OH DAMN!!! OH NO YOU DIDN'T!!!! I wonder if he was going to do it, or he really wanted to make a joke. Either way, I'm pissed about it all.
And the surprise of the night goes to Sasha Cohen, her short program was near perfect and she took the lead last night. She must really be feeling good going into the free skate on Thursday. Emily Hughes scored a personal best by a big margin, and did it during the Olympics...now that's what you call excited! Funny story about Emily....she and the family were eating at a sushi place in Great Neck, where the roll was named something like --Hughes Gold Roll-- or something like that. Imagine getting to eat at a place where the food is named after you..of course that was named after her sister Sarah!
Well tonight is American Idol and their near Olympic coverage of the contestants....they are putting on 5 hours this week....and they will beat the Olympics during every one of those! Fox is also putting on "Skating with Celebrities" on thursday night to challenge the Olympic Ladies Free Skate (long program). The weird thing about it is that Scott Hamilton is on both shows. Sir John Nicks is also on both shows....he's the coach of Sasha Cohen!!! FOX just knows what they are doing...as opposed to the days when they were the kicked around 4th network doing reruns of "Three's Company"!
Oh yeah, watch Patrick Hall tonight on American Idol. Here's a clip...

| This weeks episode of 24 was just "ok". It appears next week should be better. House had another good episode, with a side-plot of delving into House's leg pains..whether imagined or real. Now let's get onto the Winter Olympics!
The Weapons of Mass Seduction, Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto, won a Silver Medal last night, which was good for them and the country, since Congress did push legislation through to make Tanith Belbin a US citizen on Dec 31st, 2005. If they didn't bring home a medal, that would have been a waste of Congress' time and effort. I really liked their program, which brought much more artistry into play. I feel bad for the Italians, because the broadcast made them appear to be less than sportsmanlike, which they were. They did do a decent proformance, but like most of the other ice dancers, they ended their program with a look of elation (a little too much if you ask me). Come on, they're not landing triple axles! The rest of the Olympic coverage was just "blah"...i'm waiting for speedskating and Ladies figure skating.
Maybe Bode will medal, but I doubt it. We'll see. I've got to try and watch the coverage without reading reports of the results during the day....sometimes it's just too powerful...like a mosquito to bright light....."ohhhh look at the pretty light..."
| The Olympics have been somewhat disappointing lately. No big upsets for the Americans to take advantage of and the medals they should be winning are no where to be found. Where you at Bode? I think he's got one more chance to medal and save face...but I think anything but a Gold will redeem himself.
Apollo Anton Ohno got a bronze in Short Track, the Gold and Silver taken by the Korean contingent. What's funny is that i think his bronze actually means something to him as opposed to the Gold Medal won by Speed Skaing star Shani Davis, who is the first African-American to win an individual gold medal in the Winter Olympics. There are some reports of tension on the SpeedSkating team and you can tell that by the post race interview that Shani gave. He looked pissed and he kept his answers really short. It was the total opposite of a "I'm going to Disney World" reaction. It somewhat pissed me off too.
(A little side note on Ohno, I think he's going out with this ShortTrack Olympian, who's pretty cute, but they would have superstar kids...just need to wait about 20 years to find out. Maybe Lake Placid, 2026!)
Tanith wins the Gold for hottest Olympian! I was never into Ice Dancing but the best US hope for a medal is the team of Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto. Tanith/Agosto are seriously Weapons of Mass Seduction, to take a line from a Dancing with Celebrities judge. Their performance last night was really entertaining and hopefully they'll come away with a medal!
What was up with the rest of the Ice Dancers, they kept falling all over the place? Luckily for the Ice Capaders, the way scoring works if you fall it doesn't kill your chances, you just get a small deduction. It seemed very weird that they fell so much, being that you only see that type of hard-hitting action in the Pairs/Men's/Ladie's figure skating events.
